Welcome (Week One)
Hello. My name is Levi Anderson and this just happens to be my very first blog post. I will be posting weekly for a while so keep in touch. I am very excited to share my experience and progress with you during my 20% project. With the freedom to do whatever we want, this project not only brings out ourselves, but also our creativity and brightness.
My project is as follows:
I will be composing a piece for my favorite instruments, mallet keyboards. The ensemble will include a marimba, xylophone, vibraphone, bells, and chimes. However, I intend for this piece to be more than music. In fact, I hope for it to be something in which every student can relate to. Like any essay or dissertation, there is a goal or purpose that the writer is trying to get across to their audience. My goal, as the composer, is to be able to portray the feelings and experiences students go through at school. If everything goes as plans, I also intend to gather a group of high school students to perform this piece at a school concert. Additionally, my biggest life goal is to become a music educator. So, part of this project will be teaching the other students how to play their parts and give them strategies on how to practice effectively.
I am very excited to see this project develop day by day and I hope you are as well!
